Hartford, Connecticut Divorce Lawyer

Divorce • Property Settlements • Alimony

With nearly 20 years of experience, I am a family law attorney who can protect your interests in divorce and help you through this stressful period with compassionate legal advice. I take the time to listen and explore options with clients, and as a solo practice lawyer, you have direct access to me with any concerns.

The Law Office of Robert L. Fiedler in Hartford, Connecticut, serves clients throughout Hartford County and Middlesex County, from New Britain and Middletown to Manchester and Windsor. I invite you to a free initial consultation to discuss your divorce, child custody issue, or any family legal issue. We handle all legal matters relating to divorce and division of marital assets, including uncontested divorce, as well as all issues relating to child custody, visitation, and financial support.

Dissolution of Marriage and Dividing Marital Property
When couples divorce, concerns generally fall into two categories — the property settlement and the children. In matters involving division of property, I work to ensure that my clients receive their fair share of the assets, and no more than their share of the debts.

At the Law Office of Robert L. Fiedler, I can assist in determining the value of joint property, including homes and real estate, vehicles, savings, and retirement accounts. When necessary, I hire accountants and other experts to value business interests and to advise clients on tax consequences of their divorce settlement.

Every divorce case requires a different approach. Will the home be sold, or will one spouse remain in the house? In addition to child custody and support, who gets the cars, the pets, the furniture? By offering creative solutions, I help clients negotiate a property settlement that allows each to move on with their own lives.

Alimony (Spousal Support)
One spouse may be entitled to receive financial support, based on factors including income disparity, education, loss of income potential or fault. If we feel that a client may be entitled to alimony, I will pursue alimony, or contest alimony if the client believes his or her spouse does not require financial support.

Civil Unions
The State of Connecticut and its courts recognize civil unions, such as those between gay and lesbian partners. This means that a civil union is subject to all the same rules of divorce — distribution of assets and liabilities, and issues of child custody and child support. You should have a competent lawyer in dissolving any legal relationship.

I handle all aspects of Connecticut family law, including legal separation and divorce, custody and visitation, child support, and post-decree modifications. Contact a Hartford, Connecticut, divorce lawyer who offers compassionate, quality representation. I offer a free initial consultation, and I can come to you if you cannot travel to my office.

Robert L. Fiedler practices family law, personal injury, real estate and criminal defense, representing clients in Hartford, New Britain, Middletown, Manchester, Southington, and Windsor, Connecticut.
